This photograph delves into activism as a profound reverberation of self-assertion. Fire, a timeless symbol of revolution across cultures, has played a pivotal role in historic movements. From the Burning of the Bastille during the French Revolution to the Miss America Pageant Protest in the 1960s, flames have signified the relentless pursuit of human rights. The figure wielding the lighter in the image embodies the potent energy of activists, highlighting how identity and self-awareness fuel the fight for social justice. This visual narrative challenges us to consider the individual's role in confronting the status quo and shaping a lasting legacy of change.

Meraki
(adv.) "To do something with passion, from the heart, with absolute devotion, with undivided attention; a labour of love."

This photograph encapsulates the vulnerability inherent in being an artist. The creative process is intrinsic to the self: because artistry comes from within, there is no way to detach one's artwork from one's influences. By sharing your art, you invite others to understand, appreciate, and potentially challenge your perspective. It is a process of surrendering to the power of judgment and critique. The delicate balance between self-expression and external perception is portrayed in this image through fashion, body language, composition, and lightning.

Litost
(noun) "A state of agony and torment created by the sudden sight of one’s own misery"

Emotional distress is a universal experience with various roots and collaterals. Although addressed in multiple civilizations throughout history, each one has its own historical context and cultural nuances that affect how people perceive and embody these emotions. In Portuguese, the term "saudade" captures a melancholic longing or yearning, evoking a profound sense of loneliness and incompleteness. This sentiment is something I've deeply struggled with throughout my life. Although necessary, the ending of a cycle can be heartbreaking, leaving one stagnant while reminiscing about fleeting memories. This photograph portrays the sorrowful contemplation of the past and the struggle to embrace the future.
