Looking back, I do see room for improvement in both technical execution and art direction - but this series still holds a special place in my heart. I’m proud of what I was able to create with the resources and skills I had at the time. The shoot took place in my bedroom, with lighting, props, costume, and makeup all improvised from what I had on hand. Huge thanks to my cousin Helen for stepping in as a model on short notice - you’re the best.

Meraki and Catalyst went on to be exhibited multiple times, in venues including the Studio Museum in Harlem, ArtsConnection, and the ELM Foundation.
Catalyst received an honorable mention from the Brooklyn Borough president Antonio Reynoso.
